What is a behavior consultation about?  Every consultation is a bit different because every situation is a bit different. Personalities of pets and families, as well as details about individual behavioral concerns, all affect the nature of the consultation as well as the outcome of treatment.

We strive to create a low-stress environment during all behavior appointments.

Treatment plans are customized. They are created during the visit. You will have a chance to share your preferences and concerns, and Dr. Lindell will consider your personal needs and abilities before finalizing her recommendations.

After a consultation, you can choose how much support you would like as you work through your treatment plan. When it comes to effectively changing behavior, follow up communication can be critical. Some pets may only need to be seen once, while others may benefit from additional follow up.

Initial behavior consultations always start off with an assessment by Dr. Lindell.  She will provide you with a diagnosis and prognosis based on some or all of the following:

  1. Information provided in your behavioral history form and your pet's medical record.
  2. Behavioral observations.
  3. Behavioral testing: Be assured that Dr. Lindell will never proceed with any test if your pet appears frightened or threatened
  4. Physical examination: Dr. Lindell will only examine your pet if she feels the exam can be done safely and without causing your pet to become distressed
  5. Medical and behavioral history provided by you and your veterinarian

Once Dr. Lindell understands the basis for the behavior she can design a treatment plan for you.

There are two types of initial appointments available:

With a Comprehensive Behavior Consultation you receive an assessment and treatment plan during your first appointment.

With an Assessment Appointment  you learn the diagnosis and the prognosis for improvement. You will also receive an estimated cost for some recommended treatment options. You may then schedule the type of treatment sessions that best fit your time and cost budget.
